Lee scores 26 to lead Western Kentucky over Kennesaw St., 96-61
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP)—Courtney Lee scored 26 points to lead Western Kentucky to a 96-61 win over Kennesaw State Friday night in the season opener for both teams.
Lee hit 11-of-15 shots from the floor in 21 minutes of playing time.
The Hilltoppers (1-0) led comfortably 44-31 at halftime, then opened the second half with a 15-0 run to put the game away. Lee scored 10 of the points for Western Kentucky in that run.
Western Kentucky made 15 of 26 shots from the floor in the first half (58 percent) and finished the game at 53.4 percent on 31-of-58 shooting. The Hilltoppers dominated inside, scoring 50 points in the paint to just 22 for the Owls (0-1).
Kennesaw State struggled from the floor, making just 18 of 58 shots (31 percent).
Shuan Stegall led Kennesaw State with 13 points, while Keonte Keith and Jonathan Whipple added 10 points each for the Owls.
