Baron’s 30 points lead Rhode Island over Florida Atlantic 90-63
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP)—Rhode Island defeated Florida Atlantic 90-63 on Friday night as Jimmy Baron scored a career-high 30 points.
Baron was 11-for-18 from the floor, and 5-of-10 from 3-point range, and got four assists and three steals.
Keith Cothran scored 17 points for URI to tie his career high, including 11 during a key 30-10 second-half run that put the game out of reach. He also had four rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Carlos Monroe led Florida Atlantic with 22 points and nine rebounds, and Paul Graham III had 16 points.
Florida Atlantic led by seven with 13:27 left in the first half but URI pulled ahead for good 26-25 five minutes later after a 3-pointer by Joe Mbang and Baron’s jump shot.
The Rams led 40-35 at halftime in the season opener for both teams.
