Northern Iowa dominates post in 75-45 win over Northern Illinois
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP)—Jordan Eglseder scored a career-high 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead Northern Iowa to a 75-45 win Friday over Northern Illinois.
The 7-foot-1 sophomore center dominated the post in his first collegiate start, helping the Panthers (1-0) outrebound Northern Illinois 48-30 and hold the Huskies to 33 percent shooting.
Sophomore forward Adam Koch added 13 rebounds for Northern Iowa, which will play Cal Poly on Saturday in the next round of its own BTI Tipoff Tourney.
Michael Patton and Ryan Paradise each scored seven to lead Northern Illinois (0-1).
The Panthers took control of the game with a 25-2 run midway through the first half and led 40-18 at halftime. They shot 52 percent from the floor.
Northern Illinois will play Saturday against Massachusetts, which beat Cal Poly 90-64 earlier Friday.
