Indiana State cruises over Oakland City 78-45 in season opener
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP)—Marico Stinson scored 15 points and dished out six assists to lead three players in double figures as Indiana State beat Division II Oakland City 78-45 Friday in the season opener for both teams.
Cole Holstrom had 12 and Jay Tunnell 10 for the Sycamores, who led 38-20 at halftime. Adam Arnold had seven rebounds.
Troy Cox was the only player in double figures for Oakland City, with 11. Keegan Carmony grabbed nine rebounds for the Mighty Oaks.
Indiana State got off to a quick start with back-to-back 3-pointers by Aaron Carter and led by as much as 37 points.
The Sycamores shot shot 46.2 percent (30-of-65) from the field on the night, including 60 percent from 3-point range in the second half. Indiana State also scored 35 points off 22 turnovers.
