Columbia 69, Dartmouth 67

NEW YORK (AP)—John Baumann scored 19 points and Columbia held on for a 69-67 victory over Dartmouth on Friday night, ensuring the Lions their first winning season since 1993.

Columbia (15-12, 6-7 Ivy League) led by as many as 13 points late in the first half and held a 34-23 lead at intermission, but had to withstand a late rally by the Big Green.

Leon Pattman scored four points for Dartmouth in the last 1:17, and Alex Barnett stole an inbounds pass but missed a 3-pointer from the left corner at the buzzer.

Dartmouth (9-17, 4-9) tied the score at 54 with 7:44 left before the Lions went ahead by five, 68-63, with 2 minutes to go.

Pattman had 22 points for the Big Green, while Barnett had 14 and Dan Biber 10.

Baumann was 8-for-10 from the floor and hit all three of his free throws. Justin Armstrong scored 11 points for the Lions and Mack Montgomery added 10.

Columbia was 16-10 in 1992-93 but had not won more than 13 games in any season since.
