MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP)—Devon Dumes and Jesse Bunkley each scored 17 points to lead Eastern Michigan past Central Michigan 87-83 in overtime on Friday.
Dumes gave the Eagles (12-17, 6-9 Mid-American) a five-point lead at the 3:06 mark and also hit two free throws with three seconds remaining to seal the win.
Marko Spica hit two free throws to put Central Michigan (12-16, 7-8) within one point with 36 seconds remaining in overtime, but that was as close as the Chippewas would get.
Central led by as many as 13 points in the second half, but Eastern tied it at 73 on a putback by James Matthews with 18 seconds left in regulation.
Giordan Watson led Central with 24 points, and Spica finished with 16. Chris Kellermann returned from a six-week ankle injury to score 16 points, including five 3-pointers.
Brandon Bowdry scored 14 points and Justin Dobbins added 11 for Eastern, which shot 55 percent from the field and made 11 3-pointers.
