KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP)—David Kool scored 19 points as Western Michigan rallied for a 68-54 win against Northern Illinois on Thursday night.
Trailing 36-27, the Broncos used a 22-4 run over the last 3:42 of the first half and first seven minutes of the second to break a three-game losing streak against the Huskies.
Western Michigan (14-15, 8-7 Mid-American) didnt commit their first and only second-half turnover for more than 16 minutes. The Broncos tied a season-best with eight turnovers for the game.
Joe Reitz tallied his ninth double-double of the season with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Derek Drews and Andre Ricks also reached double figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively, for the Broncos.
Mike McKinney scored 16 points to pace Northern Illinois (6-22, 3-12), which shot 24 percent in the second half.
Its the sixth time this season that Kool, a freshman and former Michigan Mr. Basketball, has been at least tied for the team lead in scoring.
