CORAOPOLIS, Pa. (AP)—A.J. Jackson had a season-high 34 points and added 12 rebounds as Robert Morris secured home-court advantage in the first round of the Northeast Conference tournament with a 90-74 win over Long Island Monday.

Derek Coleman had 21 points and was 10-for-10 from the free-throw line for the Colonials (17-10, 9-9), who shot 52 percent from the field.

Robert Morris, which shot 94.7 percent (18-for-19) from the free-throw line, finished in a three-way tie for fourth place in the NEC with Fairleigh Dickinson and Mount St. Mary’s, but wins the tiebreaker due to the best head-to-head winning percentage within those three teams.

James Williams had 24 points and Eugene Kotorobai 22 for the Blackbirds (10-19, 6-12), who lost three out of their last four and were eliminated from postseason play.

The winner of the tournament, which begins Thursday, earns an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
