Wofford 76, Furman 67
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP)—Junior Salters scored 19 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead Wofford to a 76-67 win against Furman in both teams’ regular-season finale Sunday.
The Terriers (10-19, 5-13 Southern Conference) also got 18 points from Shane Nichols and 14 from Tyler Whatley. Wofford finishes ninth in the conference and will play eighth-seeded Chattanooga on Wednesday in the first round of the SoCon tournament.
Furman (14-15, 8-10) was led by Tony Anderson with 16 points, Gerad Punch with 12 points and seven rebounds, and Moussa Diagne with 10 points.
The Paladins finish fifth in the conference and will play fourth-seeded North Carolina-Greensboro in the tournament quarterfinals on Thursday.
Wofford used runs of 11-1 and 14-3 in the second half to open up an 18-point lead at 60-42 with 7:17 left in the game. Wofford led 29-28 at the half.
