PHILADELPHIA (AP)—Mark Tyndale scored a career-high 37 points on 14-of-17 shooting to lead Temple to an 81-69 victory over Charlotte on Saturday.
Dionte Christmas added 13 points and Ryan Brooks had 10 as the Owls (12-15, 6-8 Atlantic 10) snapped their three-game losing streak. Tyndale, who made a season-high five 3-pointers without a miss, has scored 115 points in his last four games.
Leemire Goldwire scored 26 points and E.J. Drayton added 13 for the 49ers (13-14, 6-8), who had won four of five.
Temple jumped out to a 9-2 lead and led by as many as 17 in its fourth straight home win. Tyndale was 4-of-4 from the arc in the first half, when he also grabbed six of his nine rebounds.
Temple made eight of 12 3-pointers in the opening session, including three baskets during an 11-3 run near the end of the period on the way to a 43-31 halftime edge. Charlotte made just three of 12 3-pointers in the half and committed nine turnovers.
The 49ers narrowed the margin to 57-47 midway through the second half, but Tyndale converted a three-point play and knocked down a 3-pointer during an 8-2 run to restore Temple’s comfortable margin.
