NACOGDOCHES, Texas (AP)—Corwin Ragland made a key layup and two free throws in the final two minutes of overtime to help Stephen F. Austin hold onto a 78-75 victory over Texas State on Thursday night.
Texas State’s Chris Agwumaro hit a 3-pointer with two minutes remaining to tie the game at 72-72, but Ragland scored and was fouled on the next possession. He made the free throw to put the Lumberjacks ahead 75-72. Ragland made it a three-point game on another free throw with 34 seconds remaining. The Bobcats had a chance to tie, but Brandon Bush missed a 3-pointer with five seconds left.
Keith Hardaway came off the bench to lead Stephen F. Austin (15-10, 8-5 Southland) with a career-high 17 points. Matt Kingsley added 16 points and six rebounds, while Josh Alexander had 10 points and a team-high nine rebounds.
The Bobcats (9-18, 4-10) were led by Dylan Moseley, who scored 21 points. Agwumaro and Bush each had 12 points, and Brandon Thomas led the team with 10 rebounds.
Thomas sent the game to overtime when he was fouled on his way to the basket with 16 seconds remaining in regulation. He made the shot and a free throw to tie the game at 67-67.
The Lumberjacks led 37-34 at halftime and turned 20 Texas State turnovers into 19 points.
