Central Michigan 61, Ball St. 59
MUNCIE, Ind. (AP)—Giordan Watson scored 26 points to lead Central Michigan to a 61-59 victory over Ball State Thursday night as the Cardinals missed a last-second 3-point shot.
Robbie Harman added 10 points for the Chippewas (11-15, 6-7 Mid-American Conference) and made a one of two free throws with seven seconds left to give them a two-point lead.
Anthony Newell led the Cardinals (9-18, 5-8) with 16 points. Skip Mills added 13 points and seven rebounds for Ball State.
Peyton Stovall hit a free throw with nine seconds remaining that cut the Central Michigan lead to one point, but Mills missed a potential game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer. Ball State finished 3-of-17 (17 percent) from 3-point range.
