Illinois St. 65, Creighton 55
NORMAL, Ill. (AP)—Osiris Eldridge scored 18 points—all in the second half— while sparking Illinois State to a 65-55 comeback victory over Creighton on Tuesday night.
The Redbirds (15-14, 6-11 Missouri Valley) trailed by as many as 13 points in the first half and 35-25 at intermission. But Eldridge led Illinois State on a 14-4 run to start the second half that tied the game at 39 with 12:52 remaining. Later, the Redbirds put together a 15-5 run to take over the game for good.
Levi Dyer scored 15 points, and Dominitrix Johnson added 12 for Illinois State.
Nate Funk scored 16 points for Creighton (18-10, 12-5).
The Redbirds outrebounded the Blue Jays 35-28, yet were outscored by Creighton in the paint 22-14.
Creighton shot just 4-of-19 from 3-point range. The Redbirds converted 6-of-15 from beyond the arc.
The Illinois State bench, led by Eldridge, outscored the Blue Jay’s reserves 41-5.
