HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP)—Ryan Bright had 14 points and 11 rebounds in Sam Houston State’s 63-51 victory over Stephen F. Austin on Wednesday night.
Aaron Wade added 12 points and six rebounds, while Jejaun Plair scored 11 points.
The Bearkats (18-7, 10-2 Southland) went on an 11-2 run to close the first half with a 38-20 lead. They built a 21-point lead with 11:18 left in the game as Stephen F. Austin struggled from the field. The Lumberjacks made only 35 percent of their second-half shots.
Matt Kingsley led Stephen F. Austin (14-10, 7-5) with 19 points and seven rebounds. He was 7-of-8 from the free throw line. Antuane Miller, the next highest scorer, came off the bench to add nine points. Josh Alexander had a team-high 10 rebounds.
The Bearkats led the Lumberjacks in rebounds and points in the paint.
