New Mexico St. 71, Hawaii 68
HONOLULU (AP)—Martin Iti scored 15 points and teammate Shaun Davis added 14 as New Mexico State held on to beat Hawaii 71-68 Monday night.
After trailing 61-60 with 3:30 left in the game, the Aggies (19-6, 9-3 Western Athletic Conference) took the lead on Justin Hawkins’ putback and led the rest of the way. Hawkins finished with 11 points.
The Rainbow Warriors (14-11, 5-7) led by as many as 10 points in the first half.
But they suffered through a 4 1/2 -minute scoreless drought and the Aggies took their first lead at 25-24. New Mexico State enjoyed a 33-31 halftime lead.
Ahmet Gueye and Matt Lojeski had 15 points apiece to lead Hawaii.
