Georgia Southern 57, Furman 55
GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP)—Louis Graham’s jumper with just under three minutes to go were the winning points as Georgia Southern beat Furman 57-55 on Monday night.
Graham’s basket put the Eagles (11-14, 4-10 Southern Conference) ahead 55-53. Donte Gennie added two free throws with 2:21 to go to give Georgia Southern a 57-53 lead.
Furman’s Alex Opacic scored with 1:50 to go, but the Eagles defense would shut down the Paladins (13-12, 7-7) the rest of the way, as they committed a shot clock violation with 49 seconds left, and Robby Bostain’s desperation 3-pointer at the buzzer was off the mark.
Furman trailed by 12 at halftime, but used a 17-3 run to take its first lead at 41-39 with 12 minutes to go.
Gennie led Georgia Southern with 19 points, while Jimmy Tobias added 10 points.
Bostain scored 18 points, while Jadee Jones added 10 for the Paladins.
