NEW ORLEANS (AP)—Jamie McNeilly scored a career-high 40 points to lead New Orleans to an 89-66 victory over Denver on Saturday night.
McNeilly was 15-of-25 from the field and hit his first five shots to lift the Privateers (12-13, 8-6 Sun Belt) to a regular season sweep against Denver (4-21, 3-12).
He scored 13 of the Privateers’ first 15 points and surpassed his previous career high of 23 points with two minutes remaining in the first half.
James Parlow had 19 points, while Bo McCalebb added nine points and a career-high 10 assists.
DaShawn Walker had 17 points to lead Denver, which only dressed out nine players. The Pioneers fell to 0-9 all-time at UNO.
The Privateers never trailed and led 46-21 at halftime thanks to McNeilly and 58 percent shooting. Denver, meanwhile, shot just 39 percent in the first half and committed 11 turnovers.
UNO led by as many as 32 in the second half. The Privateers scored 27 points off 21 Denver turnovers and shot 54 percent for the game.
