Old Dominion 68, Georgia St. 55
ATLANTA (AP)—Brian Henderson scored just 11 points, but that was enough to lead Old Dominion to a 68-55 victory over Georgia State Wednesday night.
Henderson was the only player in double figures for Old Dominion (18-3, 11-3 Colonial Athletic Association), which converted 19 points off 16 Georgia State turnovers for its sixth consecutive win, including Saturday’s 66-56 victory over 2006 NCAA tournament surprise George Mason. The Monarchs had eight steals, four by Valdas Vasylius.
The Panthers (8-16, 4-10 CAA) got 12 points and eight rebounds from Rashad Chase, 11 points from Leonard Mendez and 10 from Ryan McBride. They played a close first half, although Old Dominion began to pull away toward the end before a Mendez 3-pointer with 8 seconds left closed the gap to 29-26.
The Monarchs opened the second half with an 18-3 run to put the game out of reach, ending with Gerald Lee’s dunk at 13:41 which took their lead to 47-29.
