Harvard 65, Cornell 64
BOSTON (AP)—Evan Harris hit a game-winning layup with one second on the clock and finished with 18 points on Saturday as Harvard beat Cornell 65-64.
Louis Dale hit a free throw to put Cornell ahead 64-63 with eight seconds left. The Crimson then drove the length of the court and Drew Housman found Harris under the basket.
The Big Red turned the ball over 18 times, leading to 22 Harvard points. But Cornell also went on a 15-0 run and took a 42-41 lead with 12:05 remaining.
Jim Goffredo hit a pair of free throws to give Harvard a 57-56 lead with 4:13 remaining. But Alex Tyler’s basket on the following possession put Cornell back on top 58-57.
Harvard went on a 6-0 run to take a 63-58 lead with 2:23 remaining. Dale’s jump shot with 53 seconds left tied the game at 63-63.
Goffredo added 12 points and Brad Unger 10 for Harvard (10-10, 3-3 Ivy League). Dale led Cornell (11-9, 4-2) with 15 points, and Ryan Wittman scored 12.
