Ohio 74, Cent. Michigan 73
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP)—Jerome Tillman had 20 points with 10 rebounds and Whitney Davis made a layup with nine seconds remaining to lead Ohio University past Central Michigan 74-73 on Saturday night.
Eddie Spencer had given the Chippewas a one-point lead with 16 seconds left. But Davis took an inbounds pass and went the length of the court to give the Bobcats (15-7, 6-3 Mid-American) their winning margin.
Leon Williams added 16 points, while Davis and Bubba Walther had 11 apiece.
Spencer led Central Michigan (8-13, 3-6) with a career-high 29 points. He had seven of the Chippewas’ season-high 14 3-point baskets. Giordan Watson added 21 points with six assists.
Central Michigan led by as many as 10 points with 8:36 left to play. But Ohio outscored its hosts 18-7 the rest of the way using just seven players—and Williams fouled out with 1:38 to go.
The Chippewas went 10-for-17 from long range in the first half, with Watson sinking a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to give Central Michigan a 42-35 lead at the break.
