San Jose St. 68, Idaho 65
MOSCOW, Idaho (AP)—Tim Pierce scored 20 points off the bench Thursday night to lead the San Jose State Spartans past Idaho 68-65 in a Western Athletic Conference game.
Jamon Hill added 16 points and Menelik Barbary had 15 points for the Spartans (3-18, 2-7 WAC), who broke an 18-game road losing streak.
Darin Nagle scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Idaho Vandals (3-18, 1-8), while Keoni Watson and Trevor Morris each finished with 10 points.
Idaho put together a 7-0 run at the end of the first half to lead 30-27 at halftime.
San Jose State quickly erased that lead with a 16-4 run, eventually building a lead of as many as 11 points.
With the Spartans leading and 1:16 left to play, Nagle hit three 3-pointers, including one with 12.3 seconds left, to cut the San Jose State lead to two points, 67-65.
Pierce hit one of two free throw attempts on San Jose State’s next possession, for a three-point lead, and Idaho’s final 3-point attempt from O.J. Avworo banked in and out as time expired.
The Spartans’ last road win, a 57-53 victory on Jan. 21, 2006, also came at Moscow.
