Jacksonville St. 72, Tennessee St. 64
JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP)—With a game-high 24 points, Courtney Bradley led Jacksonville State to a 72-64 victory over Tennessee State Wednesday night.
For most of the first half, the Gamecocks (6-16, 4-9 Ohio Valley Conference) and the Tigers (10-12, 6-5 OVC) battled on even ground with the score tied 18-18 with 6:04 left in the half. Then Jacksonville State went on a 14-4 run to seal a 32-22 lead going into the intermission.
Three other Gamecocks players scored in the double figures. Will Ginn had 14,Nick Smith had 10 and DeAndre Bray had 11 points and eight assists.
Clarence Matthews and Reiley Ervin led the Tigers with 17 points each. Andrae Belton chipped in with 15 points.
Jacksonville State built up a 20-point lead at 53-33 with 10:01 left to play. The Tigers rallied to bring the score to within one point at 65-64 with 1:36 left. But in the last minute the Gamecocks sealed their win when the Tigers failed to score and committed multiple fouls.
Jacksonville State shot 52.2 percent from the floor as compared to 36.5 percent by Tennessee State.
