Delaware State 62, Bethune-Cookman 46
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP)—Roy Bright scored 18 points and Jahsha Bluntt added 16 to carry Delaware State 62-46 past Bethune-Cookman Monday.
Delaware State (11-10, 8-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) never trailed while protecting its lead in the league race. The Hornets has have won eight of their last nine games.
Bethune-Cookman (4-15, 2-7), which has lost four of its last six, was paced offensively by Aaron Nelson, the only Wildcat in double figures. He finished with 13 points.
Led by White’s 10 first-half points, the visiting Hornets pushed to an 11-point halftime lead, 32-21.
Bluntt headed the early second-half charge that enabled Delaware State to notch a 19-point advantage, 48-29, with 11:30 to play.
White, Bluntt and Darrin Shine, who finished with 11 points, continued to move the Hornets forward. Their largest lead was 22 points, 58-36, with 6:46 showing.
The Hornets shot 47.7 percent from the field (21-of-44), while Bethune-Cookman shot a meager 38.6 percent (17-of-44).
