MONROE, La. (AP)—There was plenty of credit to go around as Louisiana-Monroe fought back from a 13-point second-half deficit to beat Troy 91-78 Saturday.
Jordan Payne had 23 of his 27 points in the last 14 minutes of regulation play. Jonas Brown got the first three points of overtime and finished with 19. Tony Hooper had seven of his 26 points in overtime for the Warhawks (13-9, 7-3 Sun Belt).
Louisiana-Monroe took an early 8-0 lead, with five of those points from Hooper. But Troy (9-13, 4-7) led 43-39 at halftime, hitting 17 of 29 shots.
In the second half, 12 offensive rebounds brought 13 points for Louisiana-Monroe, which was behind 52-41 at 13:56 mark. Afame Nweke led ULM in rebounds with 12, including three in overtime.
Payne hit four straight 3-point baskets to bring ULM’s deficit down to three points with 8:51 left, 60-57.
Brown gave the Warhawks their first tie of the second half, hitting a 3-point basket at 3:40 to make the score 67-all. A layup and foul shot by Payne tied the score at 73-73 at the end of regulation.
Bassett O’Darien led Troy with 23 points; Boo Ramsey had 16 and Sammy Sharp 14.
