Jacksonville 64, Gardner-Webb 59
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (AP)—Lehmon Colbert scored 17 points to give Jacksonville a 64-59 win over Gardner-Webb on Thursday.
Colbert also added eight rebounds and Marcus Allen chipped in 12 points for the Dolphins (10-10, 6-4 Atlantic Sun).
Chris Gash led the Runnin’ Bulldogs (5-15, 3-6) with a career-high 26 points, but his attempt at a 3-pointer to tie the game with 3.1 seconds left fell short.
Jacksonville and Gardner-Webb traded leads in the first half with the Dolphins up 41-29 at the break after a 19-3 run.
The Bulldogs cut Jacksonville’s lead during the second half when Gash went on a 7-2 run to make the score 51-48 with 10:25 to play. Gardner-Webb got within three points two other times but could get no closer.
Thomas Sanders added 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs.
Jacksonville had 14 second-chance points and scored 19 points off Gardner-Webb turnovers.
