Troy 66, Denver 63
TROY, Ala. (AP)—With 19 points, Richard Chaney led Troy to a 66-63 victory over Denver Thursday night at Trojan Arena.
Troy (9-12, 4-6 Sun Belt Conference) outscored Denver 15-1 over the last 7:43, including a pair of free throws by Sammy Sharp with 2.2 seconds remaining.
Chaney had 10 rebounds, giving him his sixth double-double of the season.
Alex Cox led the Pioneers with 15 points and seven assists. Three other Denver players scored in the double figures—Tyler Bullock had 13, Antonio Porch had 11 and DaShawn Walker added 10.
Denver led 51-41 with 12:52 to play after a 10-3 run at the start of the second half. The Pioneers led 62-51 when Troy made its comeback. The Trojans kept Denver from scoring for five minutes and cut the margin to two, at 62-60, with 4:11 left. Then, Joseph Jackson made a free throw shot, the last point of the night for Denver.
Cedric Jackson had a tip-in and Chaney hit a jumper for a 64-63 lead with 1:23 left. And Sharp preserved the victory.
