Northwestern St. 98, Nicholls St. 88
THIBODAUX, La. (AP)—Colby Bargeman scored 24 points, including four 3-pointers, and Luke Rogers added 19 as Northwestern State wore down the short-handed Nicholls State for a 98-88 Southland Conference win on Thursday.
Northwestern State, the two-time defending conference champions, won its fourth straight. The Demons (10-9, 5-2) overcame a 10-point first half hole with a 17-point turnaround keyed by a 12-0 burst.
The Demons held a 44-40 halftime edge and never trailed on their way to the win.
Nicholls (3-17, 2-4) had only eight players in the game, with six getting 25 minutes or more of action. The Colonels scrapped back within four twice, last at 77-73 with 6:22 to go, but Northwestern State got seven straight points from Jerry Moody as the Demons rebuilt a 10-point margin with 3:25 to go.
Moody added 15 points for Northwestern, while Jermaine Spencer scored 13 and Jones scored 10 and had 10 assists in the game.
Stefan Blaszczynski paced the Colonels with 24.
