Creighton 66, Missouri St. 62
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP)—Nate Funk scored 21 points, including a basket with less than a minute to go, to lead Creighton to a 66-62 win over Missouri State on Wednesday night.
Funk’s short jumper with 32.9 seconds left gave Creighton (13-7, 7-3 Missouri Valley) a 61-60 lead. Missouri State turned the ball over on the inbounds pass and was forced to foul, and Funk hit a pair of free throws to extend the lead to three.
Missouri State (14-7, 5-5) led 38-37 with 12:22 left before Funk took control of the game, scoring the next 11 points for Creighton to put the Bluejays up 48-43 with just over 10 minutes left.
Missouri State trailed 52-46 with 5:18 left when Dan Lamberth went on a scoring burst for the Bears, scoring six straight points to tie the game.
Missouri State hurt itself at the free throw line, connecting on only 16-of-28 shots, or 57 percent. Creighton was 15-of-19 from the line.
Nick Porter had 18 points for Creighton and Anthony Tolliver had 13, while Dane Watts had 10 rebounds.
Lamberth led Missouri State with 16 points and Blake Ahearn had 14.
