Appalachian St. 77, Furman 63
BOONE, N.C. (AP)—D.J. Thompson scored 25 points to lead all scorers as Appalachian State defeated Furman 77-63 on Wednesday.
Thompson went 6-of-11 from the field, including three 3-pointers. Donte Minter added 14 points and Kellen Brand had 13 for the Mountaineers (15-5, 7-2 Southern Conference).
The Mountaineers were up 42-26 at the half, but fell behind by as many as seven points after the break.
Appalachian State then went on an 18-0 run, holding the Paladins (10-10, 4-5) without a field goal for 10 minutes to lead 70-57. The Mountaineers held on for the win.
Appalachian State shot 53.8 percent from the field and held the Paladins to 46 percent shooting.
Tony Anderson came off the bench to lead Furman with 15 points followed by Moussa Diagne with 10.
