LINCOLN, Neb. (AP)—Nebraska opened up a 10-0 lead to start the game and never let Colorado get closer than eight points thereafter on the way to a 71-50 win Saturday.
Aleks Maric scored 28 of the Huskers’ points.
Nebraska (12-5, 1-2 Big 12) took advantage of six Colorado turnovers to open the game, going up 10-0 on J.R. Strowbridge’s 3-pointer with 16:17 remaining.
The Buffaloes (5-10, 1-4) turned the ball over 14 times in the first half. Nebraska scored 16 of its 30 first-half points off those turnovers.
Colorado was held scoreless for the first four minutes of the game and for almost six minutes late in the half. The Buffaloes were just 5-of-20 shooting in the first half.
Nebraska took its largest lead of the half on Maric’s layup that made the score 30-11 with 1:10 remaining.
The Huskers opened the second half with a 10-3 run, going up 40-16 on Charles Richardson’s long-distance 3-pointer with 16:23 remaining. Colorado never got closer than 19 the rest of the game.
Joining Maric in double figures for Nebraska was Jamel White with 18 points.
Xavier Silas led Colorado with 13 points. Dominique Coleman added 11 points for the Buffaloes.
