Montana State 58, Idaho State 57
BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP)—Carlos Taylor scored 19 points Saturday night to lead Montana State to a 58-57 win over Idaho State.
Idaho State (10-9, 5-1 Big Sky) picked up its first conference loss of the season as the Bobcats (6-13, 3-3) battled to stay ahead.
Mecklen Davis added a season-high 12 points and five rebounds for the Bobcats.
Both teams shot less than 40 percent from the field. Casey Durham was a force for the Bobcat defense, recording three points, four rebounds, seven assists and two steals.
Logan Kinghorn picked up 16 points, six rebounds and three steals, and David Schroeder added another 16 points for Idaho State. Nicholas Rhodes had 14 rebounds and three steals.
Montana State led by as much as eight in the first period, going into the half up by four.
Idaho State picked up a jumper to bring the score to 35-33 at the beginning of the second period, but Kinghorn and Rhodes couldn’t convert on their four combined free-throw tries, leaving the Bengals trailing.
Montana State scored on a couple of quick looks to put them up again, but Idaho State came back to tie the score at 44 with 10 minutes remaining.
ISU’s Akbar Abdul-Ahad missed a 3 with less than a second on the clock.
