Cornell 49, Columbia 45

NEW YORK (AP)—Andrew Naeve scored 15 points and Louis Dale added 13 as Cornell rallied for a 49-45 victory over Columbia on Saturday.

John Baumann opened the second half with a 3-point basket to give the Lions (10-7, 1-2 Ivy League) a six-point lead, 31-25, but Naeve scored seven points in the next 2:01 to put the Big Red in front, 32-31.

After six ties and six lead changes, Dale hit a running one-hander and followed with a jump shot to give Cornell (9-8, 2-1) a 47-43 lead with 3:29 remaining.

Justin Armstrong’s baseline jumper cut the lead to 47-45, but Columbia then missed two opportunities to tie before Dale sank a pair of free throw with 5 seconds to go to clinch the victory.

Naeve scored nine of his 15 points in the second half and Dale had 11 of his 13 after intermission.

Baumann led the Lions with 13 points.
