Bucknell 67, Lafayette 61
EASTON, Pa. (AP)—Donald Brown scored 19 points and Jason Vegotsky had 18 to lead Bucknell to a 67-61 victory over Lafayette on Wednesday.
John Griffin added 11 points for Bucknell (9-8, 3-1 Patriot League), which went 12-for-12 from the free throw line in the final 1:09 to preserve the win. Chris McNaughton had nine points and 11 rebounds for the Bison.
Andrew Brown scored 14 points and Matt Betley had 11 for Lafayette (7-12, 1-3), which held a 29-27 lead at the half. The Leopards took a 35-27 edge with 18 minutes remaining on back-to-back 3-pointers by Andrew Brown.
The Bison then went on a 14-5 run over the next six minutes to take their first lead of the game, 41-40, with 11:48 remaining. A rebound and basket by Donald Brown gave Bucknell a 51-46 advantage, but the Leopards regained the lead 52-51 with 6:10 left to go.
Two Chris McNaughton free throws put Bucknell back on top 55-53 at the 2:57 mark, and after Betley scored to tie the game at 55, the Bison went 12-for-12 from the free throw line—with six points from Griffin and four from Vegotsky— to seal the win.
Bucknell outrebounded Lafayette 39-23.
