ALBANY, N.Y. (AP)—Jamar Wilson had 20 of his 31 points in the second half to lead Albany to a 82-73 win over Maine on Thursday night.
Albany (10-6, 3-1 American East) trailed 61-54 with 12:03 remaining before exploding with 14 of the game’s next 17 points.
Jason Siggers, who had 18 points, jumpstarted that run with a jumper and a 3-point play when he was fouled. Wilson later drilled back-to-back 3-pointers to put his team ahead, 68-64, with 7:46 left.
Siggers then made a pair of free throws and Wilson delivered his third 3-pointer to push his team’s margin to 73-65.
Maine (5-11, 0-4) roared to a 25-15 advantage midway through the opening period. The Black Bears shot 53 percent in the first half, and led 43-41 at halftime.
Chris Bruff had 23 points and Jon Sheets had 19 points to lead the Black Bears.
Maine built its margin back to 52-44 in the first four minutes of the second half. But Albany closed the gap to a single basket twice before sparking its decisive run.
Brian Lillis and Brian Connelly had 13 and 10 points, respectively, for the Great Danes. Junior Bernal was the fourth Maine player in double digits with 11 points.
