NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—Ladarious Weaver had 23 points, including five 3-pointers, to help Tennessee State snap a four-game losing streak with a 59-41 win over Samford Thursday night.
Tennessee State (6-9, 3-3 Ohio Valley Conference) shot just 7-of-25, or 28 percent, from the field in the first half but still managed a tie at 19 at the break.
Weaver came back in the second to score 17 of his points, including three of his five 3-pointers. Clarence Matthews added 11 points and eight rebounds and Larry Turner had a game-high nine rebounds.
Samford (9-7, 6-1) was cold for the night and ended a three-game winning streak, with no players scoring in double digits. Joe Ross Merritt and Curtis West each had 9 points.
The Tigers controlled the boards 38-23, scoring 10 points off second chances.
The Bulldogs failed to score from the field for the final 2:15.
