Creighton 79, Drake 56
OMAHA, Neb. (AP)—Anthony Tolliver scored 18 points and blocked five shots and Nick Bahe made five 3-pointers while scoring a career-high 15, leading Creighton to a 79-56 victory over Drake on Tuesday night.
Creighton (10-5, 4-1 Missouri Valley Conference) improved to 7-0 at home and beat Drake (9-7, 0-5) for the eighth time in nine meetings.
Dane Watts added 13 points, Nate Funk 12 and Nick Porter 10 for the Bluejays, who shot a season-high 65.9 percent.
Nick Grant and Jonathan Cox had 11 points apiece and Al Stewart nine to lead the Bulldogs, who shot 32.8 percent. Drake’s Ajay Calvin, who came in as the Valley’s No. 2 scorer at 17.7 points a game, was held to seven.
The Bluejays, who led 32-31 at half, opened the second half on a 10-2 run fueled by back-to-back 3s by Funk and Watts.
After Drake pulled to 44-38, Creighton scored 10 straight points to build a 16-point cushion. The Bluejays were up by 20 or more by the final three minutes.
Creighton made nine of its first 12 shots while breaking out to a quick double-digit lead. But the Bulldogs were up 31-30 in the final minute of the first half after a 15-1 run.
Creighton went the final 8:06 of the half without a field goal, but got two free throws from Funk to lead by a point at the break.
The crowd of 16,315 was the largest to see a basketball game in Nebraska.
