Bucknell 66, American 60
LEWISBURG, Pa. (AP)—Chris McNaughton scored 16 points, Donald Brown added 14 and Bucknell won its 23rd straight Patriot League game, 66-60 over American on Tuesday night.
Brown also finished with eight rebounds and four assists, and John Griffin went 10-for-10 from the line for Bucknell (8-7, 2-0).
Arvyda Eitutavicius scored 18 points to lead American (8-8, 0-2). Garrison Carr added 14 points and Andre Ingram finished with 10.
The Bison held the Eagles without a basket for the first six minutes of the second half and stretched their one-point halftime lead to 10 points when Darren Mastropaolo hit a short jumper in the lane with 15:27 remaining.
American rallied by hitting seven 3-pointers in the next 10 minutes, including Ingram’s 3 that pulled the Eagles within 52-51 with just under four minutes left. American shot 10-for-22 from 3-point range in the game.
Bucknell pushed its lead to seven points at 58-51 with 1:30 remaining when McNaughton scored on consecutive possessions. The Bison sealed the win by shooting 8-for-8 from the line in the final minute.
