Delaware St. 68, Morgan St. 61
BALTIMORE (AP)—Roy Bright scored 22 points, Jahsha Bluntt had 15 points and Darin Shine had 10 points and eight assists as Delaware State defeated Morgan State 68-61 Monday night.
Morgan (3-10, 1-2 MEAC) led 22-19 with 6:08 left in the first half. However, Delaware State (6-9, 3-0) answered the Bears with a 13-3 run and went into halftime with a 32-25 lead. The Hornets, the defending MEAC regular season champion, shot 57.9 percent from the field in the first half and 60 percent for the game.
Delaware State led by as many as 12 points in the second half, but Morgan stayed with the Hornets and pulled to within 65-61 following a three-pointer by Reggie Holmes with 35 seconds remaining.
Holmes and Joseph McLean scored 14 points each while Boubacar Coly scored 12 points and Rogers Barnes had a team-high eight assists for Morgan, which has lost four of its last five games.
Morgan played the game without starting point guard Jerrell Green, who suffered a separated left shoulder in the first half of Friday’s win over Winston-Salem State.
