ETSU 66, Gardner-Webb 63
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (AP)—Brad Nuckels scored 31 points and made 15-of-18 from the field as East Tennessee State rallied from a 12-point deficit to defeat Gardner-Webb 66-63 on Sunday.
Courtney Pigram added 10 points for the Bucs (10-7, 4-1 Atlantic Sun Conference), which shot 69.6 percent in the second half.
Freshman Matt French scored 20 points for Gardner-Webb (3-11, 1-2), which got 19 points off 20 turnovers. Thomas Sanders scored 14 points and Takayo Siddle added 10.
The lead changed 10 times during the game and the Bulldogs led 31-27 at the break.
Gardner-Webb rallied in the second half to take a 47-35 lead with 13:02 to play.
ETSU responded with a 10-0 run to tie the game, 49-49, with about 12 minutes left.
DeQuan Twilley scored on a driving layup with 7:03 left for ETSU’s first lead since the 8:35 mark of the first half.
Twilley’s two free-throws with 7.6 seconds left put the Bucs’ up for good at 66-63. Chris Gash missed a 3-point attempt at the buzzer to give ETSU the win.
