ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP)—Antwon Harris had 22 points to lead five players in double figures as Winthrop beat VMI 108-76 in Big South Conference action Saturday.
It’s the most points for Winthrop (11-4, 1-0 Big South) in at least nine seasons. The Eagles climbed on top early and led by as many as 19 in the first half and went to the locker room ahead 58-43.
Joining Harris in double-figure scoring were Craig Bradshaw with 21, Michael Jenkins with 15 and Phillip Williams and Taj McCullough with 12 each.
The Eagles defense held the Keydets (6-10, 0-1) to one point in the final 4:17, a free throw from Willie Bell with just over a minute to play.
VMI’s Reggie Williams led all scorers with 24 points and seven rebounds. Chavis Holmes added 21 points and Travis Holmes, 15. Fred Robinson had 10 points.
