LINCOLN, Neb. (AP)—Jamel White scored 23 points and stopped a second half run by Western Kentucky to give Nebraska a 82-71 win Saturday.
Nebraska (11-3) didn’t trail in the second half and had opened up a 64-57 with less than 7 minutes remaining.
Western Kentucky (12-5) then hit three straight baskets, capped by Boris Siakam’s tip-in of a missed free throw, cutting the Huskers’ lead to one.
White drilled a 3-pointer on Nebraska’s next possession and the Hilltoppers never got closer than three the rest of the way.
Nebraska took a double-digit lead on Charles Richardson Jr.’s free throw with 52 seconds left.
Nebraska hit 20 of 25 free throws, including 11 of 12 in the final 4 minutes. Western Kentucky made 4 of 10 free throws.
Aleks Maric and Richardson, who hit 7 of 8 from the line, each had 16 points for Nebraska.
Brazelton led Western Kentucky with 14 points. Siakam had 13 for the Hilltoppers, Ty Rogers had 12 and Courtney Lee added 11.
