Georgia Southern 72, Furman 70
STATESBORO, Ga. (AP)—Jimmy Tobias made a shot with 57 seconds left in the game to lift Georgia Southern to a 72-70 win over Furman on Saturday night.
The Eagles (8-6, 1-2 Southern Conference) tied the game at 67-67 with 5:09 left in the second half on a Diogo Salazar free throw. Both teams went more than two minutes without a score, until a dunk by Moussa Diagne.
Tobias, who scored 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds, evened the game with 2:38 remaining and broke the tie with a game-deciding putback shot. Louis Graham led Georgia Southern with 20 points, while Gennie Donte added 15 and Dwayne Forman had 12.
Diagne, who shot 6-of-6 from beyond the arch, led Furman (7-7, 1-2) with 17 points. Eric Webb scored 14 points, Robby Bostain added 11 Stanley Jones had 10.
