Vermont 80, Stony Brook 69
BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP)—Joe Trapani netted a game-high 23 points, including 21 in the second half to lead Vermont to an 80-69 victory over Stony Brook on Wednesday.
The win is the Catamounts’ (9-5, 1-0) fourth straight and sixth in their last seven, as they outscored the visitors 53-39 in the second half.
Mike Trimboli scored 21 points, seven rebounds and six assists while senior Chris Holm added 14 points and nine boards for Vermont.
Stony Brook (5-8, 0-1) was led by 18 points from Ricky Lucas and 16 from Mitchell Beauford.
Trailing 30-27 at the half, Vermont opened with an 11-2 run, and led by as many 13 in the second half.
