Coppin St. 66, Bethune Cookman 58
BALTIMORE (AP)—Tywain McKee scored a game-high 20 points, and Coppin State defeated Bethune Cookman 66-58 Wednesday night.
McKee also grabbed four rebounds for Coppin (3-11, MEAC 1-1). Antwan Harrison and Talmadge Bell each contributed 12 points.
Bethune-Cookman opened the second half on a 12-4 run and tied the game at 40-40 on a three-pointer by Jordan Carrier.
Bell hit back-to-back three-point baskets to break a 47-47 deadlock and ignite a 12-0 Coppin State run, giving the Eagles a 59-47 lead with 5:24 to play. After Bell’s baskets, Ethan Kennedy hit a three-pointer and Bell capped the run with his third three-point basket.
Jimmy Hudson scored a team-high 14 points for Bethune Cookman (2-9, 0-2). Ron Mitchell added eight rebounds for the Wildcats.
