Morehead St. 62, Tennessee St. 60
MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP)—Nikola Stojakovic was credited with a basket on a goal-tending call against Clarence Matthews with 0.5 second left to give Morehead State a 62-60 win over Tennessee State on Tuesday night.
Reiley Ervin hit a jumper with 53 seconds to go that gave Tennessee State (5-7, 2-1 Ohio Valley Conference) a 60-58 lead.
Morehead State (8-5, 4-1), which was down by as many as 16 in the first half, tied the score at 60 on Quentin Pryor’s basket with 40 seconds to go, setting up the finish.
Cordaryl Ballard led Morehead State with 15 points, and Shaun Williams added 12.
Ladarious Weaver scored a career-high 24 points, including seven 3-pointers, for the Tigers. Moraye Ivy had 12 while Matthews finished with 11.
Tennessee State led 37-21 with one minute to play in the first half. Morehead State pulled to 43-42 in the second half but couldn’t get any closer until Stojakovic’s two free throws tied the game at 58 with 1:25 left in the game.
