Stetson 85, Skidmore 55
DELAND, Fla. (AP)—Sophomore guard Garfield Blair scored 12 of his 16 points in the second half to lead Stetson to an 85-55 victory over Skidmore Saturday night.
The Hatters (5-8) trailed by as many as 12 points twice in the first half to the NCAA Division III opponent and were behind 32-29 at the half. But Stetson didn’t allow Skidmore to score a basket over a span of 7:20 between the end of the first half and the early minutes of the second half.
Stetson went on a 20-1 run during that time to turn back the Thoroughbreds.
Three other Hatters joined Blair in double-digit scoring. Senior guard Gabe McMillen had 13 points, while junior forward J.J. Hirst chipped in 12 points and sophomore guard Kris Thomas scored 10 points. Sophomore center Tim Lang pulled down 10 boards to lead Stetson’s 42-32 advantage in rebounding.
Skidmore (1-7) was led by sophomore guard Matt Belsito, who had 10 points. The Thoroughbreds also got nine points each from junior guard Jonas Haviland-Markowitz and freshman guard Rob Moore.
