Oral Roberts 76, Seton Hall 74
PROVO, Utah (AP)—Caleb Green scored a game-high 30 points, including the winning free throws with 2.4 seconds left as Oral Roberts rallied to defeat Seton Hall 76-74 at the BYU Holiday Classic on Thursday.
Green’s free throws capped a heated rally in the final four minutes as the Golden Eagles erased an eight-point deficit.
ORU (6-6) had an inbounds play with 3.2 seconds left and trailing 74-73 when Green, open near the basket, was fouled. Green drained his last pair, which put the 6-foot-8 forward at 12-for-22 on the night.
Ken Tutt added 24 points for the Golden Eagles.
Seton Hall (7-3) was led by Brian Laing’s 17 points, 12 of which came in the second half. He was called for a technical foul for physical play, following a Pirate basket that gave his team a 74-71 lead with 2:10 remaining.
Seton Hall was whistled for three technical fouls: Laing, Stan Gaines and coach Bobby Gonzalez.
The Pirates trailed by as many as 12 points in the first half, but closed to within 40-38 at halftime.
Seton Hall had their biggest lead of the night at 67-58 with 5:49 remaining.
Jamar Nutter kept Seton Hall close, scoring 16 first-half points, including four of five 3-pointers.
He failed to score again, missing all four of his shots in the final 20 minutes.
Thursday was the first day of the three-day round-robin tournament hosted by Brigham Young in Provo, Utah.
