HONOLULU (AP)—Dane Watts scored 21 points to lead Creighton to an 80-72 win over Houston Friday night in the semifinals of the Rainbow Classic.
Isacc Miles added 16 points for the Blue Jays (6-3) and Anthony Tolliver had 10.
Robert Lee led the Cougars (5-4) with 16 points, Dion Dowell added 15 and Robert McKiver had 14.
Miles’ breakaway layup with 16:42 remaining gave the Blue Jays the lead for good, 46-44, in a game that featured 15 lead changes and four ties.
Creighton outscored Houston 14-4 in the first six minutes of the second half to take a 53-45 lead.
Houston went 12-of-39 from beyond the arc.
Creighton advances to face Hawaii for the Rainbow Classic championship Saturday night.
