MONROE, La. (AP)—Freshman Brandon Roberts scored nine of his career-high 24 points in overtime as Louisiana-Monroe held off Arkansas-Little Rock for a 76-68 win Thursday night.
UALR rallied from a six-point deficit with 3:42 remaining to force the extra period, but the Warhawks (7-6, 2-0 Sun Belt) went 4-for-4 from 3-point range to take the win, their third straight.
Jordan Payne added 21 points for Louisiana-Monroe and 12 rebounds, his last two boards coming in the final minutes of the game.
UALR (6-7, 1-1) trailed for most of the game and held just two leads on the night, a 2-0 lead out of the gate and a 42-41 lead in the second half.
The Warhawks led 60-54 with 3:42 left to play, but the Trojans pulled within three off a trey from Terrance Akins, then tied the game at 60-all off a three-point play from Rashad Jones-Jennings. The Trojans got within five points, 71-66, off a putback by Jones-Jennings, but Roberts answered with his third three-pointer in the overtime period to seal the victory.
Jones-Jennings notched his fourth consecutive double-double, scoring 21 points and grabbing 17 rebounds in the losing effort.
