MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP)—Giordan Watson scored all eight of Central Michigan’s points in the second overtime to lead the Chippewas past Cleveland State 78-76 on Sunday.
Watson scored the last 14 points of the game for Central Michigan (4-5), including a pair of free throws with 36.4 seconds remaining in the second overtime.
Watson sent the game to a second overtime when he made an off-balance 3-pointer with 3.9 seconds remaining. He finished with 21 points.
Cleveland State (5-7) got all six of its points in the second overtime on free throws. The Vikings had two chances to tie the game, but both shots rimmed out.
J’Nathan Bullock had just two first-half points but finished with 23 for Cleveland State.
The Vikings led most of the game, but a 15-4 run by Central midway through the second half gave the Chippewas their first lead at 46-45.
Central’s Chris Kellermann scored 18 of his game-high 23 points in the second half, making 5-of-7 from 3-point range. He fouled out with 25 seconds remaining in regulation.
